Northern Colorado AIDS Project's 23rd Annual AIDS Walk

On Saturday, August 14, 2010, Northern Colorado AIDS Project will be joining the fight against HIV & AIDS by participating in the 23rd annual AIDS Walk Colorado - the largest one-day AIDS-related fundraiser in the Rocky Mountain Region. Today, new treatments are available that have decreased the number of AIDS-related deaths from years past. Unfortunately, people are still being infected with the virus everyday. Therefore, we are asking you to join our team or sponsor us in raising much-needed funds to help prevent new HIV infections in Colorado and provide for people living with HIV/AIDS.

The Pack2School School Supply Drive

Each year, too many children arrive for their first day of class without the necessary school supplies because their families can’t afford the rising costs. The Education and Life Training Center believes that equipping students with these supplies is the first step towards a successful school year. That’s why the annual Pack2School event was created. This year the event will be held on August 13th and 14th at the Northside Aztlan Community Center. Families with proof of low-income will be able to purchase backpacks filled with school supplies for only $5.00 per child. SCRAMBLE FORMAT EXPLANATION SHEET
Scramble – All players drive from the tee and select the best shot. All players then play the next shot from the position of the selected ball, placing (or dropping) their ball within a club length from that spot. The same procedure is used on all shots, including putts. If a chosen ball is in the rough, a bunker or water hazard, the club length distance must also be in the rough or hazard. Also, when selecting a ball to be played on the fringe, the other balls must be played from the fringe when placed within the club length.
Rules Sheet
1. Each group competes as a team for the LOWEST TEAM SCORE per hole for poker cards.
2. Enter gross score on scorecard.
3. Any order of play may be used.
4. All men will play from the white tees and all women will play from the red tees.
5. Each player’s drive must be used on three separate holes.
6. After the best shot is selected, all other balls may be placed within one club length of where the selected ball originally lay, not nearer the hole or on the putting green.
7. If a ball selected lies in the rough, all balls must be played from the rough within one club length of the original point, not nearer the hole.
8. If the selected ball is in a hazard, the selected ball must be played as it lies and all other balls may be placed within the hazard and within one club length of the original point, not nearer the hole (players may rake bunker between shots).
9. On the putting green, all balls must be placed on the spot where the selected ball lay.
10. The score of the first ball holed, even if by mistake, will count and that ends the stroke play for that hole.
11. If a team is short a person, the remaining three players, in rotation, shall each play a second ball on six of the holes.
12. Turn scorecards into golf shop immediately upon completion of play.
13. Poker hand ties will be determined then by lowest overall score on 18 holes, if a tie still remains then the winner will be determined on a hole by hole basis using the hardest handicapped hole #1 handicap and then the next hardest and so on and so on until a winner is determined.
Scoring and Prize format
5 card poker hand format, teams draw 1 card for par, 2 cards for birdie, and 3 cards for eagle or better on each green. We will have a card recorder on each hole to record the card drawn. Your card will be written on the recording sheet. The best 5 card hand wins first, second best second and third best third. The highest allowable hand is Royal Flush of Hearts.

The Old-Fashioned Corn Roast Festival is held at Fairgrounds Park and is the oldest community festival in Loveland. Weekend activities include a Friday night street dance, roasted and boiled corn for sale, live music and Loveland's Got Talent Contest, beer garden, corn shucking contest, corn eating contest, corn recipe contest, parade and more.

Corn Roast Festival grand marshal Mary Gullikson will kick off the festival at 5:00 p.m., followed shortly by the entertaining and competitive corn shucking contest as local businesses/groups battle it out to see who is the corn shucking champion. The night caps with a free Friday night concert with Buckstein, who rose to fame by performing on the Season 5 finale of American Idol. food and corn sales begin at 10:00 a.m. before the Loveland High School band launches Saturday’s entertainment roster at 11:00 a.m., which also includes Loveland’s Got Talent finals, the Battle of the Bands winner and live music from popular local bands Plumb Loco, Bitter Creek,
WhiteWater Ramble and HAZMAT. The corn eating contest, slated for 3:00 p.m. moves to the grandstands this year to accommodate high demand. The full Saturday schedule is below:

Annual Fall Big Thompson River Revival
