If this isn't evidence that this country is "sue happy," I don't know what is. A woman is suing her nephew because his "youthful exuberance" led to injury that, "turned her life upside down." According to the Ct Post, a Connecticut jury is hearing the case where Jennifer Connell is seeking $127,000 in damages from the boy, who is now 12-years-old.

Connell stated that when she attended the boys 8th birthday party, the boy was so excited to see her that he "jumped into her arm," knocking her over and breaking her wrist. She testified that she lives in a third-floor walk-up in Manhattan, and that the injury has made it "very difficult" on her. She also stated that she recently attended a party, and that the injury made it difficult to hold her hors d'oeuvre plate.

The lawsuit claims that the boys negligence and carelessness caused her injuries, and that a reasonable eight-year-old should have understood that a forceful greeting like the one that he delivered could cause harm and losses that the plaintiff suffered.

If I was on the jury, I'm would be asking the question, was Connell a greedy, heartless opportunist before the incident? Or has she always been one that looks to pray on others?
