His paisley majesty. The king of Minneapolis. Prince. He’s been putting out music since he was 19. 40 million albums later, he’s still rocking. Or funking. Whatever kick he’s on, on that given album.  He sat down with Entertainment Weekly to talk about his new album that came out on Labor Day, and I walked away with 5 things that I did not know about him and thought I pass them along!

Maybe I’ve just stop keeping track of Prince, to take away so much from one article. I think it all started when he started using the symbol as his name; but then, that IS one of the things I didn’t know about him- the ‘Why the symbol?’

The symbol was about his feud with his record label

From 1993 to 2000, Warner Brothers Records wanted less music from Prince. So, until his contract with them expired, he released all the music he wanted as the symbol. Partly because he wanted to frustrate the label, and partly because he honestly wanted to release more music. Turns out, he re-signed with Warner Bros. in 2014.

He doesn't use a cell phone

In the EW article, Prince states that he 'normally doesn't use a cell phone.' Is that weird?  I can see him having the coolest phone on the planet. Yet, he'd just rather not have one.

His latest album was released by Jay Z’s streaming service- Tidal

I'm not very educated on Tidal, but in the EW article, Prince talks about how record labels are outdated. With Tidal he had free reign and 'HitNRun' got to the public months earlier than a label could have.

His 'Paisley Park' complex his huge

55,000 square feet, huge.  The writer of the article says the place kind of looks like a technology center- lots of grays.

    Prince is a Jehovah's Witness.

Huh. See? I did not know that. Apparently he became a member of Jehovah's Witness in 2001.  Almost 15 years ago!
