For the second time in a week, the Denver Zoo has had to euthanize one of their animals due to health problems.

Last week, the zoo had to put down their 3-year-old lion Sango due to liver disease, and on Friday (May 6, 2016) they had to put down Robin, a 40-year-old orangutan.

According to the Coloradoan, Robin was the second oldest orangutan in North America and had lived well past the life expectancy of the average orangutan of 27.7 years. Robin was put down after suffering from extreme lethargy, loss of appetite and motor skills.

Robin had called the Denver Zoo home for twenty years and it is still home to three other orangutans.
