A Weld County woman thought it would be a good idea to bring home a baby raccoon that was abandoned by its mother. That baby raccoon tested positive for rabies, so 21 people had to be treated with rabies exposure.

Officials are telling citizens to reduce the risk of rabies, to vaccinate your pets and to stay away from wild animals. All mammals can be at risk for contracting rabies.
