Go Topless Day was founded in 2007 to help boost legalizing public nudity and to boost awareness of Women’s Equality Day which is August 26th. On the Sunday prior to the 26th each year, GoTopless.org organizes demonstrations, where, women go topless. Duh.

I happened to be at the site of the 2014 Denver demonstration on August 24th. I was at
Civic Center Park in Denver with my girlfriend and her mom for the final stage of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge. As we walked away from those festivities towards the car, low and behold, here was this group of people- mostly women- not wearing any clothes above the waist!

They had written things across their chests. For example: “Why Men? Why Not Women?” “Did You Breast Feed?” “Free The Nipple”

They were just parading around the park, letting [them] all hang out. There were a couple of men in the group- mostly for protection I’m guessing.  There’s no question it was weird; but I don’t think many people paid them much attention, even when they decided to stop parading and stop on some grass at the park.  I didn’t even see any police or security caring. Considering that there were only about six or so women in this group, I’m going to guess that not many people got the message about Women’s Equality Day.
