"Where can I see fireworks in Colorado?" With all the wildfires burning along the Front Range, many people are asking themselves that question as we approach Independence Day. The good news is that a couple of cities and independent displays are going on as planned.

Here are the best places to see fireworks in Colorado for July 4, 2012 and surrounding dates. Since all personal fireworks are banned, these should be the only places to see fireworks around Northern Colorado, Fort Collins and the Front Range.

Fort Collins

Fort Collins has postponed their fireworks display until a later, safer time. According to The Coloradoan, a Poudre Fire Authority spokesman said that the annual fireworks display at City Park will not happen on Independence Day, but they plan on doing it sometime later this summer.

‘It has been postponed, not cancelled,’ said Poudre Fire Authority spokesman Patrick Love. He cited the dry, fire-prone conditions and said the fire authority has its eye on an unknown date in the future to hold the fireworks show.

Loveland

The fireworks display and celebration at North Lake Park is continuing as planned. People are

encouraged to bicycle or walk to the park because of limited parking. There will be paid car parking in

the lots at Loveland High School. Call 970-962-2432 or CityofLoveland.org to learn more.

Greeley

The fireworks at Island Grove Park will commence right after the concert. People will be parking all over, and a good place to watch from is north of the Facility on 11th avenue and O Street, because O Street is up high. This shoot is a bit longer than the other one happening at the Greeley Country Club. That one will start just after sunset, around 9:15 – 9:30. A good place to see this display is from Aims Community College on the east side of the Country Club.

Windsor

The Town of Windsor is planning a fireworks display after a full day celebration at Boardwalk Park. The fireworks will take place just after the band the Jurassicasters, and they go on at 7pm. Plus there will be a Classic GTO Car Show – See “muscle” cars brought to you by the Northern Colorado GTO Association. Free to the public. The GTO Car Show will be held in the parking lot adjacent to Ash & Fifth Streets, at the entrance to Boardwalk Park.

Estes Park

Estes Park will not have fireworks on July 4. According to theDenverChannel.com "With the safety of the community in mind, the Town of Estes Park and the Estes Valley Fire Protection District have decided to postpone the annual Independence Day fireworks display over Lake Estes. Fireworks will be rescheduled at a later date when fire conditions are no longer a concern."

Red Feather Lakes

Due to extremely dangerous fire conditions, the annual fireworks display and all other POA events have been cancelled for this year. It is recommended that visitors track the status of the High Park fire to assure access and personal safety concerns do not impact our annual celebration.
