This is a horse owners worst nightmare.  A loose horse on I-76 caused accidents with 3 vehicles Sunday night near Wiggins. The Colorado State Patrol says two people are dead and three were injured after a minivan collided with the horse, fatally injuring 66-year-old passenger Carol Ricketts of Nashville, Mich.

A Chevrolet Venture then hit the horse and rolled, killing 71-year-old Walter Ruthenburg, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Then an Audi sedan collided with the Venture, veered off the highway and plowed through a fence. The Audi driver sustained serious injuries, and his passenger sustained minor injuries. The minivan driver also had minor injuries.

The horse was reportedly being ridden near Wiggins and got loose from its rider. CSP received animal complaints just before the crash. The horse was obviously killed in the incident.

As we hold kind thoughts for the families who lost loved members, let's also think of
the family whose horse got loose.  They will have to live with this for the rest of their
lives.
